If you were not able to make it to school physical night on June 1, you will need to schedule a physical for your student-athlete through your doctor's office. All physical paperwork must be submitted before any student may participate in workouts or tryouts.
This year we are also offering optional cardiac screenings as a part of our physical. These are recommended for all athletes as sudden cardiac arrest is the #1 cause of death for student athletes. If you missed the cardiac screening on school physical night, you may wish to check with your doctor's office for screening options. Some area physicians have been known to provide free cardiac screenings for students.
The key goal is for students to be able to identify signs and symptoms of a concussion so that they can get immediate help before any further injury can occur.
Exertional Heat Stroke is the leading cause of preventable death in high school athletics. To help you minimize the risk of heat illness at your school, this course has designed to provide the fundamentals of a strong heat acclimatization plan and guidelines for limiting activities to account for changing environmental conditions and other contributing risk factors.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest happens when the heart unexpectedly stops beating and pumping blood. This is why the National Federation of State High School Associations, in partnership withSimon’s Heart, has developed the course Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
Each student-athlete must complete these online courses prior to participating in tryouts or practices. Certificates of completion can be downloaded after course conclusion.
